1994 Brickyard 400 Festival Car

This is my '94 corvette. In October of 2011 I had the unfortunate experience of selling my 1994 6-speed Torch Red dream car. But as I was leaving in November for 7 months on the USS Makin Island and headed for the Persian Gulf I could not let the car just sit in the garage and rot away (wife would not drive the car). After three months out to sea, and many a trip to Auto Trader.com, my wife sends me a link to what would become MY new Corvette. She sent it as a teaser and told me we'd wait to see if the car was still available when I got home. So for the next two months I kept checking the link at least once a day. Sure enough the car sold. I was distraught. I could not stop talking about the one that got away. Four months later I returned home on the day of my Corvette clubs monthly meeting and we "decided" to go. The club had a big welcome home party planned. Right after the meeting we went in to the back room for cake and the biggest surprise of my life. I was amazed my wife, three kids, mom, dad, sister, entire club and neighbor hood kept this beautiful car a secret for FOUR MONTHS. The car is 1 of 25 cars pulled of the line and sent to the Indy motor speedway for the inaugural Brickyard 400. The names on the hood are of the two NASCAR drivers that sat on the deck lid during parade lap for the opening ceremonies. The car was then used for a VIP lap and carried then Mayor Goldsmith and his wife around the track.
